The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification (Advt. No. 51/2026) for the recruitment of Principal and Vice Principal posts in the Education Department, Government of NCT of Delhi. This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 828 vacancies across various Delhi Government Schools .

Online applications will be accepted from 25 July 2026 to 14 August 2026 through the official UPSC website . Candidates with Master’s Degree, B.Ed, and teaching experience are eligible to apply . The selection process includes a Combined Recruitment Test (CRT) and Interview.

Educational Qualification

For Both Principal & Vice Principal:

  • Master’s Degree from a recognized University/Institute .
  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from a recognized university/institute .

Experience

For Principal (10 Years):

  • Ten years of teaching experience (as Vice Principal/PGT/TGT) in a recognized High School/Higher Secondary School/Senior Secondary School/Intermediate College .

For Vice Principal:

  • Option 1: Two years’ experience as Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) .
  • Option 2: Three years’ experience as Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) .

Desirable Qualification

For Principal:

  • Doctorate Degree from a Recognized University/Institute .
  • Experience of Administrative charge of a Recognized School .

For Vice Principal:

  • Not Mentioned in Official Notification

Selection Process

  • Combined Recruitment Test (CRT): Pen & Paper based objective type test of 2 hours duration carrying 300 marks . The test will be held on 01 November 2026 at 15 centres across India .
  • Interview/Personality Test: Candidates shortlisted based on CRT marks will be called for interview .
  • Document Verification: Verification of original educational, experience, category, and other supporting certificates.
  • Medical Examination: As per UPSC rules for final selection.
